Taking
payments.
Tapy recommends the use of paid Taps - your business has value, and your customers know this. Paid Taps ensure your customers are more likely to redeem, because they have made a financial commitment to engage with your business.
When you create a Tap, you’ll need to set one of three payment options - No Payment, Part or Full Payment, or Deposit Payment. We explain how these work, below.
No payment
The No Payment option is exactly that - for when you create a free Tap, or when you are not taking any payment through Tapy. For example:
“The next 5 customers who Tap get a free ice cream. On the house.”
Part and Full Payment
The Part and Full Payment option lets you take either a deposit for your Tap, or a full payment for your Tap, which ensures your customer is committed to redeem the offer you’ve made.
Taking Part Payment
To take Part Payment of your Tap, click on the Part icon. This will automatically set the Tap to take 25% of the Price or Min Spend payable.
If the customer wants to secure and reserve the Tap, they will be required to pay this amount (that is, 25% of the Price or Min Spend payable).
You will be notified when the customer has confirmed the Tap and paid the Part Payment.
Taking Full Payment
To take Full Payment of your Tap, click on the Full icon. This will automatically set the Tap to take 100% of the Price or Min Spend payable.
If the customer wants to secure and reserve the Tap, they will be required to pay this amount (that is, 100% of the Price or Min Spend payable).
You will be notified when the customer has confirmed the Tap and paid the Full Payment.
Deposit payment
The Deposit Payment option lets you specify any amount payable by your customer for your Tap. This option gives your business flexibility when taking payments for Taps, when the total bill is more complex than, for example, a simple, fixed price. You are also able to adjust, in real time, the amount payable by your customer.
Taking a Deposit Payment
To take a Deposit Payment, click the Deposit icon. This will set your Tap to take a Deposit Payment. At the time of payment, you will have flexibility to modify the price of the Tap, if necessary.
Once your customer has selected the Tap, you will see their name in your Pending Taps screen. Their Pending Tap will display a Card icon next to their Code (in green). Click on the Card icon - this will display a price box, which allows you to enter the Custom Payment amount. When you click “Add payment to Tap”, the customer will be notified as to the price they need to pay for that Tap.
Once the customer has paid the Custom Tap amount, the Red Dot will appear on the Card icon. You will also be notified that payment has been made.
Custom Payment Taps will help your business take payments in situations where there may be a larger total amount to be paid, and only some parts of the total amount are being promoted through Tapy.
For example, if you are a restaurant, you might offer a 20% discount on entrées for two customers, but you’re not sure which entrées they will order. Once their order is known, you can calculate the 20% discount applicable for those dishes, and then add the cost of the main and dessert courses to their final bill. Payment for the final bill can be taken through Tapy as a Custom Payment, incorporating the discount entrée Tap you originally offered, together with the remaining food ordered.
Payments are 100% Guaranteed and Secure - powered by Stripe.com
When you receive Notification, it means the transfer is on it’s way and sent by our partner Stripe. Most payment will be within your account within 24 hours.
Customers making payments
Tapy makes it easy for your customers to make payment, directly within the App. They will be notified that payment is required for each Tap they have clicked, and you’ll be notified as soon as they have paid.
ApplePay, GooglePay or Credit/Debit Card
Tapy provides customers with multiple options for making payment to your business, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Credit/Debit Card.
